URL PARAMETERS
(Malaysia)
Hi,
I am trying to show registration page rather than showing the default advanced login form when the module is loaded.
I have tried the reference from user manual but still can't really figure it out.
my page name is registration.aspx and application name is modizo.
so i tried this
http://localhost:2182/modizo/Registration.aspx?showregister=true
in url link type of link url section of page edit section of dnn 5.6.2
when i run the page i get a weird error
"The page is not redirected properly.
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."
What am i doing wrong here?

It could be that localhost:2182 is not correctly setup as a valid alias on DNN, and the dnn URL handler is playing with the url typed.
All you have to do is browse to the page (not on the server, but from the users access) that has the login module. This can be defined in the DNN setting page for both registration and login. Then add to the URL, the showregister option.

Re: URL PARAMETERS

I have a requirement of setting up different registration pages for different roles of my site.
But in dnn settings I can only set one registration page add showregister = true with the url.
what about the other page??
I am still not clear about where to go to add the showregister= true

You define that in the URL you are using to access the site.
My suggestion for different forms for different roles, would be to remove the Login Register links form your skin, then setup different pages with different forms. Then use menu items to drive to those pages with URL's defined to the related page, and include the registration=true option for that link. Repeat it for each link.

if you read the previous posts of mine carefully then u should see i have done whatever u said already.
i have created different pages with many instances of advanced login module.
to show the registration form by default i have changed the link url from page properties, the url i ended up with :
http://localhost:2182/modizo/Registration.aspx?showregister=true
but with this url i can't render the page unfortunately.

Like we suggested, the alias settings may be at conflict in your test environment.
As you will see from this URL: http://www.interactivewebs.com/Admin/Login.aspx?showregister=true on our site. If you are unauthenticated, the feature works fine.

Not at all. It means something is likely not correct, but we can't assist you because we can't login and see what is going on.

Re: URL PARAMETERS

Ok, found it up.
Found: 1. A circular redirection. The URL redirection setting in the page settings / advanced cannot be redirected to the same page. Nothing to do with our module. This just cannot be.
We change the Splash page and home page settings in the admin / advanced settings to "none set".
Setup a new login page with the module on it. Set that page as the login and register page in the admin / advanced settings page on the site.
Then hid that page from the menu.
Then setup a redirection from another page with the option "?showregistration=true" tacked to the end of it.
All works fine.
