SMS Verification
(Malaysia)
Is it possible to bind an event to send sms notification when register button is clicked?
Is it possible to match verification code from a table rather than dnn default verification code when an user try to login for the first time?
Thanks,
Qamar

With DNN, almost anything is possible. What you are describing would best be achieved with a custom module, but technically you could trigger actions from SQL events.

yeah you are correct everything is customizable. But I don't want to be in a situation whereby after upgrading the core i loose all the changes.
That's one of t he reason we are not in the side of customizing the core.
Since you have specified we can do something from sql sever end when a new user is created, can it be like once the user clicks on register button we can capture the verification string that is generated? If i can catch what verification code is generated then i really don't have to worry have verifying that code.
Now my concerns are below:
1. Capture the generated verification code.
2. Call sms gateway and send the verification code to user (i think i can write a jquery ajax post, but no so sure how to do it in DNN and moreover i need the code before i can call the gateway)
Please advise.
Thanks,
Qamar

You don't need to modify the core of DNN to do custom things, but you can have a custom module written or write one yourself to handle custom processes like these, and have them trigger off a SQL action.

can you elaborate your suggestion a bit? how can possibly read the verification from the url which is created internally and i don't have source for advanced login modules? If i wanna write an event i still have to know what are the controls name all? I am a bit confused here, please enlighten me..

Really and custom written module developer would be capable of understanding this. It is using SQL to trigger another process of notification, or trigger a custom action within another module.
