Paypal Questions
(Canada)
I have 2 questions about the module (BTW it looks great!):
1. When using it as a monthly subscription, I wanted to clarify that it will simply automatically bill the customer every month. It doesn't require them to take an action each month to continue the subscription, correct?
2. I'd love to use this with Paypal Payments Pro (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_wp-pro-overview-outside) - do you have this ability? Is this upcoming?
Thanks!

This is using the Paypal subscription system. Not the pro system (we use that ourself).
If I am not mistaken, it sounds like you are looking for a recurring billing system to bill hosting clients or similar. We have a MS crm / dnn integration system for this. It bills using payflow pro, automatically asks for updated credit card numbers, invoices, tracks retries, notifies you with integrated tasks for clients who's payments fail past certain retry settings.
It's the bomb.

Only catch.. it is $5000 not a dinky module but a pro one.
I am guessing it will do all you want and more. Happy to demo it to you if you like?

Wow, looks awesome, but *way* beyond what I need and could afford.
Thanks.

The basic module does almost everything I would need, it just doesn't use Paypal Payments Pro. What would the chances be that you could add that functionality in? Would it be a major change? See, I don't use MS CRM nor would I want to.
Thanks,
Dean

We could add the functionality, but there would be a moderate development charge for adding this feature. I would expect around $900

Re: Paypal Questions

OK, so I set up the demo module to test, and I have a question.
Do I need to set up the automatically re-ocurring subscription in Paypal Website Payments Standard first? When I clicked through, I got the error "The link you have used to enter the PayPal system is invalid. Please review the link and try again."
I couldn't see anything about this in the setup guide.
Also, second question: If I add more than one role under "Role Settings" on the "SubscriptionsModule Settings" page, does this add all roles to the user's profile each month (assuming a monthly recurring billing)?
For example. I set up a "Membership" product name, and I'd like users to be added to the Members role AND to the Bonus1 role as well. Both should be renewed when the user is rebilled in a month - is that true? Is this why you can add more than one role to the Role Settings section? But if this is true, why do I need to select a subscription role in the Basic Settings section? I'm not sure how to do this.
Thanks!

That error from paypal is sometimes generated when you are not logged into the sandbox when testing. Paypal is kind of tricky with their sandbox stuff.
We found it was better to test with a $1 item and a real account and transaction. I would suggest that to you.
The role update we will investigate, but FYI, all that should happen is that the expiration date of the role should be rolled, the role never gets added and removed once the recurring relationship is added.
