Bounce email not connecting
(Australia)
I have created a new bounce email, and set it up in 'Bounce email' as well as set it up as the 'send from address' under smtp settings and general settings. It validates fine in SMTP settings and General settings, but when I test the connection in the bounce email settings I get:
ChilkatLog: CheckMail: DllDate: Jan 29 2010 UnlockPrefix: NTRACWMAILQ Username: SitEducateAppUser Component: .NET 2.0 Pop3Connect: Connecting to POP3 server hostname: mail.psychology.org.au port: 110 ssl: 0 connectTimeoutMs: 30000 heartbeatMs: 0 socket is not ready for writing Connect function failed. SocketError: WSAEWOULDBLOCK The socket would block. For more information see http://www.chilkatsoft.com/p/p_172.asp Failed to connect to POP3 server. Not in transaction state
The details are all correct, but do I need to change the port setting? If so, how do I do that?

Have a look at the URL in the error message, as it tells you how to test the connection.
Assuming that your POP is running standard ports, then no need to change, but if you are running non standard, then you will need to set that.
I suggest that you run the test suggested in the URL, and if possible from your web server.

Yep, I tested as per the URL in the error message. I could not connect to the port 110 on mail.psychology.org.au. However, I
could
connect to other ports on that server.
Now, how do I change the port number in the bounce email setting?
Thanks,
Jacob

Well you POP will be expecting a call on 110. Have you configured another port on your POP server? Because it will not answer to random ports, it all needs to be configured.
Sounds like a firewall issue to me. Have you checked if port 110 is open on your firewall?

Maybe I'm coming across as a complete idiot, but I can assure you I'm only a little bit of one!
Our IT department is going to give me an alternative port which is of course configured to recieve the connection. We cannot simply unblock port 110 for a variety of reasons.
I need to know how to change the port setting on the website so it looks to the correct one.

Sure, you can use a port other than 110 default POP3 port by using it in the standard server port configuration method.
For example. “mail.server.com:220” or “66.34.200.109:220”. would both be using port 220 on the send.

Ok, maybe I
am
a complete idiot after all! I understood from your last post that if i put mail.psychology.org.au:555 in the 'Pop3 Server' field, that it would send out via port 555, however I still get this error message:
ChilkatLog: CheckMail: DllDate: Jan 29 2010 UnlockPrefix: NTRACWMAILQ Username: SitEducateAppUser Component: .NET 2.0 Pop3Connect: Connecting to POP3 server hostname: mail.psychology.org.au:555
port: 110
ssl: 0 connectTimeoutMs: 30000 heartbeatMs: 0 socket is not ready for writing Connect function failed. SocketError: WSAEWOULDBLOCK The socket would block. For more information see http://www.chilkatsoft.com/p/p_172.asp Failed to connect to POP3 server. Not in transaction state
Which as I've highlighted in bold looks like it still is trying to send via port 110, am I missing something?
Thanks again!

The POP connection is for incoming email only and SMTP is for outgoing mail. It sounds as though you may be confused on this point.
The only way to sort this is if you contact us with a host log in and we take a look. Contact us via the contact us page on our site. Include the pop account settings so we can test.
