Bounce count reset after a successful send
(Ireland)
Hi. Just a quick question here about the bounce management.
Does the bounce count auto resets after a successful send in your module?

Good question. No it does not.
We recommend that from time to time you start fresh. Reset the bounce count. When you get a reliable count again, remove from your database emails that are dead.
Then reset and refresh etc.
It should be unlikely that people will bounce more than once or twice a year to a legitimate address.

Thanks for the quick reply. :)
But what if an email is only a soft bounce (for instance 421), and likely to work if retired.
Does it distinguish between hard and soft bounces?

Good old yahoo. Pitty mail is not all as easy a gmail.
Not sure. We use a third party code set to find the bounces, I believe it would see this as a legitimate bouce and would flag it.

Do you think if you will add this feature to the next release? Is source available on your module?

No. The point of the auto bounce is to stop sending to email accounts that bounce. For people sending to big list, bounce email messages are a big problem. If you send to 1 million addresses and 10% bounce, that will overwhelm any mail server.
So the auto handling to stop sending to bounce addresses reduces that problem. Managing bounce address is something that needs to be human handled.
