Successful E-Mail Campaign Never arrives
(United States)
Good day,
Bulk Mail Module Version: 62.07.53
DNN Version: 6.02.08
We've sent numerous successful e-mails with the bulk mailer. But a few days ago an important e-mail was successfully sent, but not received by any users (few hundred on the list). We checked junk mail on the client machines and also checked the MAILROOT folder on the server, but didn't see traces of the e-mail.
We followed the Troubleshooting section of the user manual... but we've sent numerous e-mail campaigns, to the same distribution list, in the days following with no problems.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

This actually sounds like it could be content related or SMTP black list.
1. Content related, could be where you have a URL in the email like a paypal one, and virus software blocks the message silently as it see the URL as physing.
2. You mail SMTP server has some show ended up on a black list. Perhaps a Sender Base etc, causing it's messages to be blocked before being recorded into junk.
Hope these ideas help.

Thank you very much for your response. I searched the e-mail, but didn't see any phishing-type links. The subject line did contain the word URGENT (in caps). However, wouldn't the message still be delivered but just placed in users' junk mail? I checked mxtoolbox and the domain doesn't appear blacklisted, plus, all e-mails since then have been successful. Is there anywhere else I can check for messages "stuck" in transit?
Thanks again for your assistance.

No, that is all SMTP side. If our program reports 100% sent, then that is saying that the messages have all been accepted by the SMTP server.
After that, it is up to the email server to do it's thing. Bulk Emailer has no way to track past sending to the SMTP server, and when a user opens or clicks on a link.
