Email Not Sending on Telstra Connection to

When you try to send e-mail from an internet connection like Telstra Wireless Broadband you find that email messages will not send.

This is caused by Telstra or another ISP blocking the normal e-mail sending port 25 or 465. They do this to avoid email spam viruses abusing their network.


Change the outgoing STMP server settings to use port: 587 in place of 25 or 465. This will work specifically for SmarterMail e-mail servers.

Port 587 should also allow SSL as an option on this port.
