Login Works on Home screen not on SOME others
(United States)
I put a reference to the Advanced Login module on all of my catalog screens, it works on some of them and the home screen, but on some pages, the login pulldown is there, but when I login, nothing happens.
Try logging in using
User Name: Test
Password: password
From this page it works:
http://www2.trainagents.com/Home.aspx
From this page it doesn't
http://www2.trainagents.com/CampusCat...
It's the same instance of the same control. I think it might be related to either JQuery, or possibly my portal store software... but the weird thing is that it works on the checkout screens, which is portal store.
You have the host login and password already if you need it, but you can skype me at shawn.nanto if you need it again. We are going live this week if it is at all possible to get this fixed.

Works for me on both.
FYI, jquery cache is a pain, so if you have been doing dev work in a browser, clear cache first.

Cleared all of the cache, history, even downloaded a new browser (Safari)... same thing is still happening.
To clarify, the Advanced Login Pulldown appears just fine, the problem arises once you type user name and password then click Login. You don't get logged in and no error messages are shown.
It's not working from multiple computers across multiple browsers.. The issue on the second page is that the pull down is there, you can type your user name and password, but once you do, the pulldown login window is still there, and you are not logged in.
I tried this using Chrome 13, Chrome 14, IE 9, IE 8, and Safari on three different machines (a Windows Server 2008 R2 box, Windows 7 Ultimate, and Windows XP)
with the exact same result. I also tried it on a Motorola XOOM tablet. I cannot get logged in from the second link.

Forward us some host login details and we can take a look if you like.

I send them to David Finley's skype. Thanks for looking at it. It's very strange.

We can't fault this, can you confirm the issue is still there?

Re: Login Works on Home screen not on SOME others

I discovered the cause of the issue.
http://www2.trainagents.com/CampusCat...
1. On this page, login using "Test" and "password", but hit the "enter" key on your keyboard instead of clicking the "login" button.
Actual Results:
1. The screen refreshes,
Expected Results:
1. a Login Failed box should appear.
So the bug is that the Login form's Login button is not accepting the "enter key" as input on that page (but it is on the home page).

Is there a way to make the Login button respond to the "Enter" key on the keyboard after a user types their User Name and Password and type Enter, it should activate the "Login" button and it's not.

I'm sorry to keep bumping this, but we just put this website into production and are getting bombarded with phone calls about users not being able to login (because they are typing their user name and password then hitting the enter key), and I have to way to fix it on my end.

We have been testing and find that in our tests, it works fine. We suspect that it may be related to another module on the page.
Can you contact us with host log in details and I will get someone to have a look.

We had a look at your site, and the problem is with the portal store module that you are using on the home page. That module is capturing the enter key (who knows why).
You may try putting our module after theirs on the page, but really is is unknown if this will fix the issue. Basically their module is programmed to capture the enter key and do nothing with this.

I fixed it using this code in the Custom Script module.
$("#dnn_ctr460_signin_login_password").keydown(function(event){
if(event.keyCode == 13){
$("#dnn_ctr460_signin_login_button").click();
}
});

Thanks for posting this update. That should be helpful to others using the portal store module.
I wonder why they bothered to capture the enter key but do nothing with it by default? Anyway glad you worked it out.
