facebook registration
(United States)
I am evaluating the advanced login module and have some questions. I am currently using verified registration and datasprings registration module that allows me to use the email address as the username.
Could you explain exactly how the facebook registration part works.
Scenario 1: A new user comes to my site and clicks the facebook button. What facebook information is used to register the user on my site. I currently use the email address as the dnn userid. Do you use the Facebook user name? and what if the user does not have a facebook user name defined.
Scenario 2. An existing user comes to my site and clicks the facebook button. What field is used to verifiy that the user already exists. The email address?
Thanks

Ok. so I experimented on your site. I am an existing user on your site and I clicked the facebook button. It went out to facebook and created a new account using my first name, last name and an appended number and a password and used my name as a display name. It realized that I already had an account on interactive webs and asked me if I wanted to link to my existing account or create a new account. I created a new account. Ok so far, since I can log in with my email address.
However, Both my new facebook account and my existing interactivewebs account have the same email address. When I log in to your site using my email address and password, it logs me in to my original account but does not display the fact that I have another account with the same email address (facebook). Is this by design?
I think this process is ok as long as the user doesn't ever have to log in using their facebook userid which would be difficult to remember.
Do you have any best practices advice for using the facebook option? I think it would be a convenience for my users.
Thanks

Sorry for the late reply.
The look and feel on our site is not so much configured for facebook. The integration for facebook as some what limited in what we can return and the DNN integration is even more limiting.
We would suggest that you setup the FB and Advanced Login module on a test site and have a play there. That will show you just what can be done.
