Category Selection
(Canada)
Hi,
My company purchased your module yesterday. It has many good features, although we are having some difficulty with one important issue. When selecting a category from the module, a new 'page' opens up, displaying
ONLY
the articles for the category selected in the module. When selecting a category, we do not want to be redirected to another page. We want to have the same page displayed, and the Announce It Module to display the articles for the selected category.
Would you be able to help us with the issue?
Thank You

If you are saying that a new Window is displayed.. that is not how it should work.
Can you please provide a URL so we can investigate.

No, not a new window, but it's like we are being redirected to a sub tab, displaying only the Announce It module and the articles for the selected category. Sorry, no URL, the site is under construction.
Hope this helps, otherwise, would there be a way I can contact you via telephone?

Can you please have a look at our example page here:
http://www.interactivewebs.com.au/announceit
Tell me if it is behaving differently to that?

Thanks for the reply.
I am being redirected to :
http://www.interactivewebs.com.au/Default.aspx?alias=www.interactivewebs.com.au/announceit
Basically, when I select a category from the module (in my website), what happens is that everything EXCEPT for the Annouce It module AND the menu bar disappers from the page. These disappeared items reappear when I click 'Back To Date View' in the Categories control.
Our goal is for these items not to disappear when a category is selected from the module.
Hope this helps...
Thanks

Yeah, but the thing with this page is that there is Nothing else in this page other than your Annouce It module; so I can't see if it would be behaving differently if there were other items (modules) in the page...!
Would you have another page I can compare with, maybe another company's website that is using your module?

Re: Category Selection

Hi Vanessa, you are correct in pointing out that other modules are dropped off when you click into more detail of an announcement.
This however, is following guidelines set out for DotNetNuke Module Development. ie. If there is another view of the module, there is certain code executed to direct the user to that page. Response.Redirect(NavigateURL("ViewItem")) for example.
There IS a benefit in that you have greater screen real estate for your announcement detail pages however if you require the functionality to retain the same front screen for all detail pages maintaining all other surrounding modules, we will consider including this in our development roadmap. If you require it sooner, please send a formal request via our Contact Form to arrange $ for priority development.
Hope this helps.
