Announcements not showing Syndicate button
(Netherlands)
Hello,
I Just purchased and installed the AnnounceIT module. Almost everything is working fine accept the items are not showing up in the sites search results and there is no "syndicate" button in the menu.
The allow syndication option on the module is on and I have manually pushed the searchindexer to do its job (and checked its results in the log). After that I waited for two hours but still no results. This concerns a DNN 06.00.01 installation. The module is used in a child portal.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Stefan de Groot

Enabling RSS within the AnnoounceIT Module
KBA-01065-053PBP
Purpose & Scope
Please follow the procedure below to enable RSS feed from within the AnnounceIT Module.
Procedure
To Enable RSS News Feeds from this module.
1. Login with
Administrator
or
Host
access
2. On the AnnounceIt module menu, select '
Settings
'
3. Expand the '
Page Settings
'
4. Select '
Allow Syndicate
?'
5 Select '
Update
'
6 Best Practice is to wait 60 minues to ensure that the Search Scheduler has had time to act.
You can speed this up by.(DotNetNuke.Services.Search.SearchEngineScheduler) to elapse every 1 minute and then the RSS feed will generate. We do not recomend this for users who do not know that they are doing!
7 At the end of 1 hours wait, From the AnnounceIt admin menu, select 'Syndicate'
You should be taken to a URL that is a syndicate of your site looking like this.
http://www.interactivewebs.com.au/announceit/ExamplePage/tabid/93/moduleid/512/RSS.aspx
If you cannot view the URL on your site, or the one above, chances are that you do not have a compatable RSS browser. Try IE7 or Firefox.

So you did these steps above?
Did the search schedule show as True?
If all yes, please contact us with a host log in so we can have a look. Use our contact us page and reference the URL of this post?

The syndication not showing is a bug that has also been reported in DotNetNuke 6x and above. The method that DNN use in their own Announcement Module (the same method we use) does not work in DNN 6x

We will release a fix for this ASAP. The release can be monitored here:

Thanks for your reply,
Is there a workaround for this in the meantime?

Not that we have found. It does appear to be a DNN bug, so others may be talking about solutions in other DNN forums.
Specifically it is a bug that was in DNN 6x but resolved in DNN 7x.
