AL for DNN 7.3.0 - very difficult to get working. A PAIN!  (United States) Modified By Rob Lenihan on 6/15/2014 4:14:02 PM

I have spent a truely frustrating day trying to get your software to work, and it is only a partial success.

I have had to delete the dev portal I am using three times, because:

  1. The AL module did not display on the site - so when you click on 'login' then AL does not show
  2. if the AL module does show, then the login credentials do not work
  3. It is REALLY hard to try and figure what the heck to do and try and configure this your module to work, becaue I am using DNN 7.x and all of your documentation is 6.x

I also can't make heads or tails of some of your documentation, because you actually have to go looking in the forums and search endlessly to find that the scripts that you have in your documentation for pop-up, don't work and have to be replaced with some other script that is buried is a single obscure foum post somewhere. Yet you still release your module with the old, non-functioning scripts.  This is bad software engineerng.  If you need a new script for DNN 7 then release a DNN 7 version of your module!

Your doumentation is appallingy out of date, and is a major source of  frustration.

For example, in DNN 7 to get the AL redirect to a user login page to work (which is why I am interested in this module), you have to add a new profile property.  Your documntation says it is in Admin > User accounts

It is not!!

In DNN 7 it is under Admin > Site Settings > user account settings > profile settings

But without setting this up, nothing works!

The end-result: a completely, and utterly wasted day of my life, mucking around with your out-of-date software, which inadequate documentaion, which I only managed to get going at 3:00 a.m. in the morning after a full frustrating 16 hours trying to figure out how the hell your module works.

Oh, and the single-sign-on does not work properly with DNN 7.3

FRUSTRATED AND PISSED-OFF

Rob

Re: AL does DNN 7.3.0  (Hong Kong)
Thanks for your post. DNN 7.3 is just new, and has caused some compatibility issues with the Advanced Login module. We are woking to release a fix to this and expect it to be available in the next two days.

We are sorry for your frustrations, but hope you can understand that when DNN changes we have to modify things at our end, and this is not instantaneous.
