Country field not working correctly in DNN 7.4.0

I am having trouble with the country field. The Subscriptions Module seems to reset the country of my user profiles when trying to use it.
I am trying to set up for GST in Australia.
I have a feeling this may be due to changes in the way that DNN stores and references Region and Country information that occurred during the 7.3.? releases of DNN. Specifically, DNN now stores the ID of countries/regions in the relevant profile fields, not the text values.
Steps to Reproduce
1) Create a user profile. Set their Address Country to Australia, Region to Queensland. Save and verify that the data is saved in the profile.
2) Add a subscription button to the portal, set it up as you like, but in the "Profile Settings" add the country field to the "Profile Display Template (Singed In)" field:
Country: [Country|class=NormalTextBox]
3) Save subscription button.
4) Log in as user created in step 1, and click on the subscription button.
5) Observe that the value in the "Country" field is "Afghanistan" not "Australia" (regardless of what you set as the default country in the subscription button or what country you save in the user profile, the country always goes to Afghanistan)
6) Set Country to "Australia" and click Continue
7) Cancel out of PayPal transaction and return to your portal. Open the user profile and observe that the Country field is now blank, and the Region field contains the value 810 instead of the text "Queensland"

OK, where do I find that? When I go to the module downloads, the version there is still 45.06.33 and hasn't been updated since Jan 2015.

Any progress here? We are unable to progress testing until the country issue is resolved.

This is good news. I would like to try out the module, but the trial license has expired. Can you please advise me how I can extend the trial?
