Set-up feedback designer in child portal  (Australia)
I have not managed to set-up feedback designer in a child portal.

When a user hits the send button then the following message displays on the page:
"Unable to send to a recipient. Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: Authentication is required for relay "

I can get the feedback designer to work successfully from the parent portal where the host email address is the same as the portal name.

David, please can you advise if you are able to do some consulting work to help me get this sorted out.

many thanks in advance

Would love to work for you to sort this, but it is too easy. This is just saying that the SMTP server set in your DNN host settings is not allowing relay to email addresses outside the organisation. This was probably not evident with the host portal as the email address used in your from there was hosted on the same mail server as the smtp server, and as such, neede not relay.

I have created some good information about this at this URL: http://www.interactivewebs.com.au/feedbackdesigner/Help/tabid/221/language/en-AU/Default.aspx  - Understanding SMTP settings in DNN.

Now I always say to people with these sorts of problems to PLEASE read the information there. It will help you understand what you need to do to fix the issue. Then useually I get more questions that imply they have not even looked at it.... so please... please  have a read before asking more questions.

Re: Set-up feedback designer in child portal  (Australia)
I have not found the information at http://www.interactivewebs.com.au/feedbackdesigner/Help/tabid/221/language/en-AU/Default.aspx that easy to follow.
I guess, once one knows something it seems obvious but when you don't know then these things are not that obvious.

You say
"5) In the SMTP Server text box type in mail.your_domain.com where your_domain.com is the actual domain name of youru site ..."

If I understand you correctly then your module will not work in a child portal because the domain name for a child portal is different from the host domain name?
I am struggling to understand why the module works in a DNN parent site but not a DNN child site.
