few questions (Sweden)

Hey all.

Just bought the Feedback Designer and playing arround a bit.

I cant find the switch (if there is any) to make the Module German (iam from switzerland)

I know that translating the whole module is much work, witch i dont need, but at least the "shown items" like "send" should be changeable.

But no biggie, maybe you can show where all the words saved, so i can change the words on my own.

Now the other thing is a problem.

Every mail i get form the module starts with a "=?iso-8859-1?Q?" and a "=" at the end.

Any ideas?

Untill I get time for that.

The language of this module is like other DNN modules. You can manually edit the language using the DNN language editor.

From the Admin login

Select Admim menu LANGUAGES

Fromt the languages menu, select Language Editor

Select the default language in the "Available Locales"

Expand the Local Resources items in the left hand menu

Expand Desktop modules

Expand Complete feedback designer

expand App_localresources

Edit away the different areas that you want to make localized for yor language.

Update and you are done.

The Language thingy worked perfect.

Now give me a hint for the "=?iso-8859-1?Q?" problem and iam happy :)

Excuse me, what do you mean by mode details?

I use the latest dnn version (4.4.1)

I installed the Swissgerman language pack

What else do you need to know?

What is the email application you are using to view the email?

What is the SMTP server you use in DNN (exchange, linux)?

Can you forward an example email message to: sales@interactivewebs.com.au

iam using outlook

mailserver is MDeamon (windows)

Mail is underway.

Nother small question.

Where can you define the what sender adress to use?

Using the "from" adress of the user will defenitly cause lots of problems with spamfilters

Need to know where you see an error?

What exactly causes the error to appear to you?

Can we see a page with the error?

Is the error logged in the site log?

Did the error occure only after applying the language pack?

Any other information that may assist us in trouble shooting the error you are reporting?

The sender address is the address of the person sending the mail. This is because the form sends you an email that can be replied to.

When you say it will cause problems with spam. It should not if you do not have SPF defined. Spam filters do not look at sending SMTP servers unless asked to with a SPF filter. SPF while great in concept is not a widly accepted server setting.

Its not a direct error its only the "=?iso-8859-1?Q?" in the subject of the mail.

And for SPF.

I work for a Provider, and i have to say that SPF is the right way to go at the moment!

We host more then 800 Domains, and all of them have SPF configured!

All needed is that you allow to define the sender e-mail adress.

If you say that you dont want to support a configurable sender adress, then the module is useless for me.

But you understand that the sender is filling in a contact form to contact you via email without you providing an email. I.e. the purpose of our design is email enquiry.

So the configuration of the sender is presumably to get around SPF. There are better ways to do this. – just make and IP exception for the sending smtp server. Problem solved.

In answer to your query, and being that you are the very first to ask for the ability to configure the sender. – We have no plans to include this development for public release. If you require custom development of the module to include this feature. We could definitely quote you for this. I believe (without looking at details) it would be a reasonably simple mod.

And as for the SPF being the way to go. Yes, it most definitely stops spam.. but currently is also stops too many other legitimate email messages too. We use a solution for our hosted excange servers from GFI. It uses a combination of many technologies. IT stops around 84% of all messages and lets only 1 message every few days through. But more importantly it gets almost none wrong. The jury is most definately out on this topic!
