Email Opt In module => Email-validation  (United Arab Emirates) Modified By DNN Module Support on 10/12/2011 12:31:47 AM
Hi, I have a few observations to share with you, regarding the email-address validation from the BulkEmailOptIn. Please suggest if I'm going wrong. 1. I saw a line-of-code in the ViewBulkEmailOptIn.cs file : Method Name : cmdSubscribe_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) Line-102 (counted from function-definition) : string fromAddress = iwebs.Modules.BulkEmailOptIn.Utility.GetFromAddress(base.Settings, base.PortalSettings); This fromAddress variable is taking the value of my portal-administrator's personal email-address (as configured in users profile). I feel it should take email-address from the Host Settings and not Portal Settings. 2. I am not sure this one, if it is a bug or not : I have configured my opt-in email module to accept only email-address (no first name, lastname or display name) Now, there is a call on method : iwebs.Modules.BulkEmailOptIn.Utility.SendEmail() [just after 3 lines of the "string fromAddress" definition This method [ SendMail() ] takes input arguments : (arg-3)txtFirstName.Text; (arg-4)txtLastName.Text; and (arg-7)fromAddress Possibly, because in my case, the first-name & last-name are blank strings, it would be creating any error preventing the email to no trigger. Also, I do not see any SMTP Authentication (Password) transmitted into the above method-call. May be this one could be making an error. To check if this method works properly, I tried with debugging with the source code (so that I could change values at run-time). I modified the fromAddress to be the email address of my host-settings. But still, the method returned "False" and went to the else-part of that method-call; causing "SubscribeFailure" text to be displayed. If you need more clarification on this, please respond me on the email : ravi_punjwani [at] yahoo.com; r.punjwani [at] cpd.gov.ae; or skype : ravi.punjwani. - Ravi / Rashed
