Preview mail not sending

I have my SMTP Server settings using port 465 and SSL and can send Campaigns no problems using the green Send Email button.
However if I click either Send email count or Send preview of this email to: I get an error (text below). It looks like its not using the right SMTP server settings as they are setup correctly. And if I click Send Email straight after, the email is sent fine.
I am using version 45.5.77

The module logic is the cause of this. Because the SMTP server settings are the weak link in the people using our modules (ie they only failures for the module including this one are because of invalid SMTP settings) we set the module to use the following logic.
1. Email campaigns go first through the module defined SMTP settings, then fall over to the DNN Host SMTP settings. - This assumes that the DNN host settings are valid but may be on a server that has limited emaill capability.
2. The job start and count email messages are sent out on the Host SMTP settings (again because these should usually be valid). It assumes that there is the potential for invalid or unreliable settings to be set in the module.
In your case, when we looked at your DNN host SMTP settings, we found they were not valid. We updated them with the settings from the module and expect that will fix your issue.

Hi, thanks for explaining how the module works.
I had setup DNN Host settings to be:
smtp.webhost.co.nz
Basic Auth
SSL enabled
I'm aware that my smtp server uses port 465 but I didn't need to enter that anywhere for it to work. So these settings work for all DNN emails (eg password reminder) but don't work for the Send Preview function in the BulkEmailer module.
If I now change the server address to be smtp.webhost.co.nz:465 then Send Preview does start working however all other emails from DNN stop working. As the emails from DNN itself are more important I've put the server back to just smtp.webhost.co.nz but am now stuck without the Send Preview functionality.
So it seems BulkEmailer and DNN core use different methods to send emails. What can I do to resolve this? Is it a DNN bug in the fact that its not sending when I explicitly add the port number to the server address?

I think we will need to come up with something.
While we work on this, I guess the good news is the module is sending email messages, and you can manually check that it has finished.
