Mail Fails
(Australia)
Hi
I installed the trial today (DNN.4.84) and imported a list then configured the settings but can't send an email. It displays failed but with no other message to identify why. Exception log is clear and the scheduler is ticking along fine.
I tried sending just a basic HTML email from the imported list and then just one person, neither worked.
I should add, i use Google Apps as my pop/smtp - is SSL supported?
Any ideas?
Thanks
Adam

This sounds like what would happen if your SMTP server settings are either non existant or do not have permission to send to external email addresses. (known as remote relay)
I suggest that you look at the SMTP settings you have. Either use a remote server with authentication, or an internal emial server with remote relay turned on.
We have some details about SMTP server settings on the module website.
Even when you get things configured correctly, I believe goolge lock down the number of messages you can send in one session. So you will likely have issues there too.

Additional to this. We have found that other Google app clients have had success. However they are limited to 400 email messages a day. A solution to this is to set a large time delay in the scheduler. You can restrict the messages delivered in 24 hours to less than 400.
There are instructions in the manual on how to do this.
